The Shoe Game is probably the most popular wedding reception game because it can be fun for both for the couple and guests.
It’s also simple and suitable for all ages.
All you need to play are two chairs, a list of questions, the couple and their shoes.
The bridal couple sit back to back in the middle of the dance floor so they cannot see each other. They then each take off their shoes and give one to their partner. They will then each have one of their own shoes and one of their partner’s shoes in their hands.
An announcer then asks questions from a prepared list. Each question should start with “Who…?,” as in “Who is the pickier eater?,” or “Who has the better singing voice in the shower?” You can even get your guests involved by asking them to ask questions. The couple indicate the answer by holding one of the shoes above their head. That is, the shoe of the person they think best suits the answer to each question.
This makes for great entertainment – especially when different shoes are raised, which happens when the couple answer each question differently.
It can be great fun, but as with all activities you want to ensure it does not go on for too long. It also works best if the couple don’t know the questions.
